KENWOOD TK 880 MANUAL DRIVERS
I'll keep you posted.Īnd what version of Windows are you running- XPĭevice Manager on your PC, the USB cable will show up - it does show up - not drivers are installed - therefore I do not see any cable settings Great info - thanks a lot - I'll try this tomorrow. Even simpler than programming an 880 once you get your head around it. Then you can go in and edit to add the tx and rx tones you need. dat file that you can dump in there as a package that includes all of the ham freqs. You also theoretically have to hex edit to get it into the ham band fortunately however there is a ham.
Yeah, the 981 has to be set to trunking but you can add conventional channels within that format. Some radios were updated to passport which the kenwood software doesnt like at all. Also if you get an error message about the radio software, and when you turn the radio on you get version 1.5xxxx let me know and Ill send you the correct firmware. Im not sure how the 900 MHz stuff works though as it only seems to let me select "trunking" so you'll need to ask someone else for that. Now the software is set for the 880 and will let you enter UHF frequencies into itĪlso note, the same software does the 981 (900 mhz radio) Just select that model radio and your set. Options, If you have an ANI board you can select it, Scrambler is not needed.

When you install the program, go to Model-Model Information. I tried various folders/programs but none worked.ħ80 and 880 are basically the same radio and software, just one is VHF and one UHF. I tried this one because TK880 wasn't listed.
The closest model, if I recall, was TK780. The folders on the install CD that came with the cable didn't have my model listed. Or else could I use some uniden/cobra toy walkie talkies and use those frequencies legally?Īnd last but not least, could I take a random frequency (for example, 462.7725), and use that in the state of Minnesota, legally? I have a Kenwood TK-3200L, and I want to be able to have my "own" frequency that I can use without a license.Thank you Jones. Will this radio work on 13.8 volts and function properly?ĭo I need the power cord, and not just the cord on the radio, or can I just use the radio's cord without the power cord?Īnd last but not least, could I take a random frequency (for example, 462.7725), and use that in the state of Minnesota, legally? I have a Kenwood TK-3200L, and I want to be able to have my "own" frequency that I can use without a license. Will I be able to get on the frequency of 457.6625 with a PL tone of D043N, and another channel on the same frequency with a PL tone of D023N, by field programming it? Is there a function to field program it using the buttons? I was wondering if this unit will be the same due to it's age? I have a TK-940, and a 840, and they don't transmit, program, or receive. So, I just got this Kenwood TK-880-1 Ver 2.0 UHF radio, Link to the radio, and I wanted to ask a few questions.

The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate just purchase it.įor M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios.

Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
